“The Needy Readers’ project predominantly focuses on the schools’ without the library facility or the schools’, which have limited number of books in their libraries. Reading is the first step to become a versatile intellect who will out stand from the rest. Knowledge, experience, changes in attitudes acquired from reading books brings an immense value to us.
Nevertheless, there are students who have the desire to read, willing to discover the world with the adventures in books, are underprivileged due to the shortage of good books. IMCD endeavor in facilitating them with the required material, for them to win the world”
Our Needy Readers team visited Badulla, on 1st August 2016. They donated more than 3000 books to six schools, one library and one university.
On 21st November 2015, the Needy readers team rode to Hambanthota all the way from Colombo, to donate books to 11 schools and 8 libraries situated from Tangalle to Hambathota. It was delightful to see the happiness of innocent children amidst the down south sea breeze.
Another Needy Readers project was successfully concluded on 9th May 2015, in Padavi- Sri pura. Ten extremely unpiviledged schools from a village which suffered as a border village, were provided with essential books they needed for education.
It is indeed highly commendable how Needy Readers have understood the value of reading and donate books to students from schools like this.
IMCD has a vision to help underpriviledged communities all around the country. I’m really happy where IMCD is today, impacting so many people and communities. I wish you good luck for all future work and plans.
